Live times

Live times before corrections.

Note on live times

Most competitors want to know their time, and likely position, as soon as possible after they have finished. However, live times may contain errors. Most of the live times shown during the race will be correct. But some may be incorrect.

Timing for Head races depends on matching two separate streams of data: crew number; and time at start and finish. Occasionally, a crew may be matched with the wrong time while the race is proceeding. This will result in an arbitrarily wrong overall time for that crew shown in the live times. After the race, we use several methods to check the sequence of crews and times. As a result of correcting mismatches, times may appear to jump. It is important to understand that the crew time has not been corrected by some amount. It has simply been matched with a different start or (more commonly) finish time. It is unlikely that an overall time will be wrong after corrections, because there is a definitive sequence of start and finish order, and a finite number of times taken.

So please enjoy the race and, if you think your live time may be wrong, please wait for the provisional times. Provisional times are the corrected times, usually published later the same day. After the correct provisional times, we add handicaps and penalties to give the final results for medals.

Provisional times after corrections, and final times after handicaps and penalties, are published at Vet Fours Head Results.

Timing

Timing is done with the ALGE timing system and the assistance of a large team of volunteers including members of KCL Boat Club and experts from HoRR, WEHoRR and Quintin Head. We are grateful for their support. The race could not run without them.
