Entries for the 2009 race have now closed.

Please read the following information carefully before making your entries.

General information

Online entries only, and online payment is preferred. The 2009 entry fee is £50, which includes a £6 number deposit. The deposit will be refunded if a crew's bow number is returned, undamaged, by the end of the week following the race.

All visiting crews must have permission to boat from a host club before entering, and all boats on the tideway must carry a six-digit identification code.

Only paid entries will be accepted into the draw. Refunds cannot be offered to crews that withdraw after the close of entries.

Crews may not change status after entries have closed.

In the event of the race being over-subscribed, priority will be given to veteran crews.

Veteran events 2009

FISA categories A (born 1982 or earlier) to H, for open, women's and mixed crews in coxed fours (4+), coxless fours (4-) and coxless quadruple sculls (4x).

Mixed crews must contain at least two women (excluding coxswains).

The committee reserves the right to amalgamate adjacent categories (i.e., A and B, but not A and C) and apply the appropriate veteran handicap.

Veteran novice events 2009

Veteran novices will race as one category, rather than being split by age. The novice events will, however, appear as Veteran A on the online entry system. Coxed fours (4+) and coxed quadruple sculls (4x+) only, for open and women's crews.

These events are aimed at those who have relatively little racing experience. The committee therefore asks that veteran crews that are novice 'on paper' but have substantial racing experience enter their age category, and reserves the right to move up crews as it deems necessary.

No competitor who won a novice event in the 2008 Veteran Fours Head may compete in a veteran novice event in the 2009 race (excluding coxswains).

Non-veteran events 2009

Intermediate 3 coxed fours (4+) and coxless quadruple sculls (4x) for open and women's crews.

Crews must have a minimum of four points in the appropriate discipline (sweep or sculling), both at the time of entry and on race day. Novice crews will not be accepted. No exceptions can be made to this points requirement.

All competitors in Intermediate 3 events must have been born before 1 September 1991.

Junior events 2009

Junior coxed fours (4+) and coxless fours (4-) for open and women's crews.

Crews must have a minimum of four sweep points, both at the time of entry and on race day.

All competitors must have been born between 1 September 1991 and 31 August 1993.

Overseas and non-British Rowing crews

Overseas crews (including SARA) should contact British Rowing in order to register for online entry.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

It is the responsibility of the individual clubs to enter only crews and coxswains that are sufficiently competent to race. Crews must be capable of completing a ten-mile outing, and may be on the water for two hours.

If a club enters a crew that is deemed not to be sufficiently competent, the crew will be escorted off the course and action will be taken against the offending club.

Sunset is at 4.11pm on race day. It is strongly recommended that crews carry lights as they may be returning to their boathouses in poor light.
